The game has found its feet again! The brilliant and bold, Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown), returns for more mystery and mayhem in the self-titled sequel, Enola Holmes 2.
When Enola takes on her first official case to find a missing girl, she is thrown into a dangerous world, and seeks the help from her famous older brother, Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill) to unravel the mystery at hand.
Enola Holmes 2 is just as brilliant as its predecessor if not even better. It’s a rare sequel that builds on its world to make it stronger yet doesn’t overdo what made the film so successful.
The narrative dives into a deeper mystery while remaining clever, witty, and effortlessly entertaining.
A lot of the entertainment is due to the force of nature that is the character of Enola Holmes. Unlike her very analytical brother, she is adventurous, bright and determined — a strong woman that you root for no matter the circumstances.
And what better actress to embody this heroine than Millie Bobby Brown. She continues to give a wickedly wonderful performance as our plucky protagonist. Brown is having an absolute ball and it’s hard to resist not having one yourself.
Brown is supported by a strong ensemble, including the return of Cavill’s Sherlock and Helena Bingham Carter’s Eudoria (the mother of Enola and Sherlock).
If anything, this enjoyable sequel further illustrates that we need more Enola Holmes on Netflix. She’s a gem. She’s fun. And we deserve that.
There are six books in Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes series after all…
