“The Suicide Squad” is the DC spectacle we’ve been waiting for — and it’s fun as hell.

An eclectic collection of dangerous supervillains and convicts are forced by the government to team up for a search and destroy mission on Corto Maltese.

I know what you’re thinking — didn’t we JUST have a Suicide Squad movie? Yeah. We did. In 2016. But it was crap. I like to pretend it didn’t happen. Even though it blessed us with is Margot Robbie’s flawless Harley Quinn.

But that’s not the point.

The point is that this film is a COMPLETELY new story. It just happens to still star Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnamen, and Jai Courtney in the same role they originated in the 2016 Suicide Squad.

And thanks to the brilliantly twisted direction of James Gunn, it is THE Suicide Squad we finally deserve, and holy hell, it is a wild ride.

James Gunn, you crazy genius, you did it.

Overflowing with creativity, humor, heart, and nonstop action, The Suicide Squad is a deliciously entertaining narrative and the stuff comic book dreams are made of — and all set to a killer soundtrack.

The actual squad themselves is nothing short of a blast. You all know how much I love Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. And of course, she continues to be an absolute scene stealer. However, the rest of the crew is perfectly casted too. Idris Elba, Daniela Melchior, and David Dastmalchian are all extremely charismatic and invested in their unique roles — and dare I say it, John Cena actually…did a good job?! Crazy.

But let’s be honest, the best newcomer to The Suicide Squad is none other than Sylvester Stallone, who voices the lovable and brutal, King Shark. That guy is going to be EVERYWHERE.

And unlike other comic book movies you’re used to seeing on the big screen, it is bloody as hell. Gunn does not hold back, which shows how creative and ambitious he can be when he doesn’t have a ton of red tape holding him back.

Overall, The Suicide Squad is a grandiose and inventive anti-superhero story. It isn’t afraid to be gory, goofy and even a little weird. He also isn’t scared to do the unexpected.

But that’s what makes it so damn enjoyable to watch.

Final Thoughts: Forget what you heard or know about the old Suicide Squad. This is THE Suicide Squad and it is a bloody good time.
