“Gunpowder Milkshake” is a fiercely fun blast.

After being abandoned by her mother (Lena Headey), Sam (Karen Gillan) is raised by The Firm, growing up to become a successful and fierce hit woman. When one of her jobs goes wrong, she must reunite with her mother and her associates to protect an innocent child.

Reader, if you know me, you know the “good for her” sub genre is one of my favorites.

That being said, Navot Papushado’s Gunpowder Milkshake is a fierce and fun addition to the sub genre. It is sleek and stylish flick that smashes the patriarchy with blood, bullets, banter, and a bad ass ensemble.

Although there are some pacing issues in the first act that are a little wacky to navigate through and there really isn’t much character development, it’s an enjoyable ride with creative action.

Fans of John Wick of Kingsman: The Secret Service should enjoy the similar elements however the leading ladies are what truly make Gunpowder Milkshake fun.

If you didn’t know this by now, Karen Gillan is an damn action icon. She totally commands the screen and takes down every enemy in her with with ruthless brutality.

And her supporting ensemble? Well, it is *chef’s kiss*

How can you top the kick ass trio of Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh, and Carla Gugino?! They are 100% the BEST part of the movie. And then adding Lena Headey to the mix? Perfection.

As I said before, good for her.

Final Thoughts: A dynamic cast, highly stylized aesthetics and brutal bloodshed make Gunpowder Milkshake a blast.

And yes. Don’t worry. There are milkshakes.
