What happens when Little Finger and Peter the Great start a forest fire and have to go up against Tomb Raider?
You get Taylor Sheridan’s Those Who Wish Me Dead.
The film follows a skittish teenager (Finn Little), who witnesses a murder and finds himself being pursued by twin assassins (Nicholas Hoult and Aiden Gillen) in the Montana wilderness. With a hot shot survival expert (Angeline Jolie) trying to bring him to safety, they are unaware of the forest fire threatening to consume the all.
Honestly, having zero expectations going into this film, Those Who Wish Me Dead was a thrilling and entertaining way to spend a Saturday night.
It kind of reminds me of a 1990’s action movie that totally engrosses you even though it’s nothing special.
Sure. It’s unrealistic. It’s forgettable. There’s no character development or shocking depth, but as a survival thriller, it doesn’t let up. It’s fast-paced, violent and makes for an entertaining one-time watch.
Performances are fine. Like I said before, nothing is revolutionary.
But I have to admit, it is so nice to see Angelina Jolie back in action. She is such such a rock star and bad ass.
Final Thoughts: It’s far from spectacular, but Those Who Wish Me Dead is a solid and entertaining one-time watch.
