The classic con artist tale of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels gets a gender-flipped face lift in The Hustle starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson.
For a movie about the art of the con, filmmakers did a great job of robbing the audience of their time and their money. This movie could have been so much more. Instead the plot is ridiculous, the jokes fall flat and the film is a total waste of talent.
Hathaway and even Wilson (who is honestly rehashing Pitch Perfect’s Fat Amy) deserve so much better than this dismal remake.
I unfortunately don’t have anything positive to say about The Hustle except it really made me miss the south of France. Otherwise, save yourself the 94 minutes of absurdity.
Final Thoughts: The Hustle will rob you out of money, laughter and a good time. Skip.
