“Oppenheimer” sparks with cinematic mastery and captivating performances.

Here it is kids. I finally got to the “enheimer” part of BARBENHEIMER! Go out with a bang, ya know?

Christopher Nolan’s latest film explores J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) — the man who single handedly changed the nature of war forever resulting in the death of hundreds of thousands of people.

“Oppenheimer” is a profound cinematic achievement that only the masterful Nolan could create. From the heart pounding sequence of the initial testing to Oppenheimer’s overwhelming speech at a post-Manhattan Project celebration, there are so many pivotal scenes that will be taught in film schools for years to come.

Booming with an incredible score by Ludwig Göransson and an impressive sound design, the narratives zips through its three hour runtime thanks to a well written screenplay and an impeccably acted ensemble. No other movie this year boasts such an incredible cast — besides probably “Barbie,” duh.

Cillian Murphy is flawless. A transfixing yet quiet performance balancing confident brilliance with his sheer terror, all with his mesmerizing blue eyes and frail figure. Murphy is a sure front runner in this year’s awards season. Robert Downey Jr. also boasts one of the most memorable supporting roles of the year.

Sadly Florence Pugh and Emily Blunt don’t have enough screen time but dominate when given the chance. Granted, no women have enough screen time. Leave that to the men.

Although “Oppenheimer” is nothing short of a cinematic achievement, the gut punch ending didn’t have a profound effect on me as it did so many other viewers and critics. Maybe because the aftermath of these historic events already terrify me on a daily basis but I foresee this film staying in your mind for a while.

Either way, Nolan proves he’s one of the most talented filmmakers of our time. Go see this on the biggest screen possible. It’s what Nolan deserves.
