Return to Zombieland with your favorite group of scrappy zombie slayers for double the laughs and gore in Zombieland: Double Tap.
This reunion was one of my most highly anticipated films of the year, since I adore the originality and humor of Zombieland so much. Zombies are not my thing but somehow Zombieland had me cheering.
Sure, the sequel isn’t anything new. Zombieland: Double Tap played a lot off of what worked for its predecessor. The rules. The “zombie kills of the week”. The Jesse Eisenberg voiceovers. But if you loved the writing, the characters, the action and the quirks of Zombieland, then you will not be disappointed. It is 100% fan service — not to mention, a hell of an entertaining ride.
What is most impressive is how the main core of characters (Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin) still had chemistry. It’s been 10 years and it felt like they hadn’t missed a beat.
I loved the new character additions. They added to the mayhem in the best way. Zoey Deutch’s vapid Madison in particular had me in stitches.
Will the Zombieland story continue? Who knows. But I wouldn’t complain if it did.
Final Thoughts: Zombieland: Double Tap is one sequel you shouldn’t miss.
