Time for another mystery movie with AMC. Today’s Screen Unseen – or should I say, Scream Unseen – was the new creature feature, “Sting.”
The film follows a young girl, Charlotte (Alyla Browne), who finds and raises a tiny spider, only to discover her pet is actually a dangerous monster.
Well folks, between this and “Madame Web,” 2024 does not seem to be a strong year for spiders.
“Sting” is a tangled mess full of plot holes, unlikable characters (except Helga, she deserved the world) and poor writing. It desperately wants to be “Alien” or “Arachnophobia” but instead gives off SYFY original movie vibes more aligned with “Sharknado.”
What “Sting” lacks in scares and suspense, it makes up for in cringeworthy dialogue and absurdities like “mothball water.” Hey, at least something will make your skin crawl?
Candidly, I probably wouldn’t have seen this if it wasn’t for the AMC mystery factor. You win some. You lose some. And this was definitely a loss.
