“Anyone But You” marks the return of the sexy & silly romcom.

Alas! Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the romantic comedy returns to the big screen with Will Cluck’s “Anyone But You”.

Thrown together at a dreamy destination wedding, Ben and Bea (Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney) pretend to be a couple to keep up with appearances, only to reignite the flames from their fiery past. If this enemies to lovers plot sounds familiar, it should because “Anyone But You” is loosely and lovingly based on Shakespeare’s comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing.”

Let’s be clear. We go to romantic comedies to escape. We go to laugh, to cry, to swoon, and to be entertained. Because we need that. All of us.

So if you are looking specifically for these things during “Anyone But You,” you will be satisfied.

Yes, the plot is predictable. It is a light hearted romp but it does not lack charm or sex appeal. It’s a hot, fun-in-the-sun romp that will leave you smiling. A lot in part due to Powell and Sweeney’s irresistible chemistry.

Not only are the two a pleasure to look at for 104 minutes (As is the rest of the stacked ensemble. Seriously folks, there isn’t an ounce of body fat in this cast), but they are just adorable together. You spend most of the movie just rooting for them to make out.

Powell does outshine Sweeney a bit in delivery. Sweeney seems a bit flat during this performance however, Powell goes all in. His charisma radiates off the screen, proving why he is star material.

Between his performance in 2018’s “Set It Up” and this film, can we have more Glen Powell in romcoms please? Sure he may be more interested in flying planes with Tom Cruise, but he may be the romantic comedy savior we are looking for.
